How Important is New Media in Assisting in the Fight Against Human Trafficking?

Today, new media has become a big part of our world. From the cell phone to computer, we utilize new media on an everyday basis. Through the use of new media we are able to communicate with others, report information, entertain ourselves, and most recently, slove problems. Solving problems through the use of new media has become a growing trend. Videos, blogs, websites, etc are all mediums through which  people, organizations, and even entire countries are beginning to solve their problems.
One problem that is currently in the process of being resolved is that of human trafficking. Many organizations are working hard every day to combat this issue. New media plays a large role in combating human trafficking. Through new media, organizations are better able to get their message out. This is because many people all over the world utilize new media. It makes it easier for them to spread information and tell people what is going on in and around their neighborhoods. A great example of how that happens is through the use YouTube. Groups fighting human trafficking are able to post videos and give viewers a firsthand look at what actually goes on in the human trafficking business. Not For Sale, a well known organization, does just that. Many people post videos everyday about issues that are going on in the world, and because YouTube is easily accessible to many people and provides updates on current events, people are quickly informed of what is going on in the world.
New media is very important in assisting the fight against human trafficking. The rapid pace that information can be passed on through new media is one the greatest advantages of it. If a breakthrough occurs or if a person is captured, that information can be passed on instantly. Through the use of new media, many lives can be saved and advancements made, therefore, new media is very important in assisting in the fight against human trafficking.
