In an earlier blog I mentioned that the United States was ranked as a high trafficking destination. Other places include Belgium, Japan, Thailand, and Turkey. These countries are places in which children and women are captured and sold EVERYDAY, but the difference is that people fly to these countries solely to have sex! Professionals like lawyers and doctors fly to trafficking destinations to have sex with young boys and women.
I find that very sad and disturbing. Trafficking in itself is a terrible crime, but it is amazing and sickening the lengths that people go to in order to participate in such a horrendous crime. After reading an article in Essence magazine, I was shocked to find out that more and more men are going on these twisted vacations. I do not understand what type of individual will travel half way across the country to have sex with a child. In a sense, it is like they are trying to separate themselves from the actual act. By that, I mean they travel to these far away destinations where they are unknown, and they can act out things that would not be acceptable back home--wherever home may be. Most of the time, these vacations are usually disguised as business trips. The families back home are usually unaware of what is really going on, and that is unfair to the wife and children. These twisted vacations are becoming more and more popular, and they are contributing to the rise of human trafficking. That is the opposite of what needs to be happening, and these twisted vacations and their participants are enjoying every minute of it.

Blog Post: Online Sex Trafficking
Comment:You are absolutely right in your assessment. I
feel really strongly about sex trafficking. Many people are not aware that this
is a serious problem. It goes on in and around many neighborhoods across the US
and various other countries. I will add that women and young boys are also very
popular victims. It isn't just young girls, but something has to be done to
stop this problem.

Blog Post: Interracial Adopting
Comment: The fact that
people still feel that way does not surprise me at all. Despite that fact, I am
very bothered that people feel that way. In my opinion, skin color should not
matter when it comes to raising children (or in anything)! All that should
matter is the well being of the child, and I really believe that people should
stop being narrow and closed minded about interracial adoption. Like you said,
we should open our minds and eyes and begin to see beyond color.

Blog Post: Analyze This
Comment: I think this is a powerful picture also. A world without violence would be a perfect place, but does a twisted gun really signify non or no violence. It could simply be making a statement about guns in general. It could also be making a statement against having guns in public places. Looking at the setting, that conclusion would be very logical, but overall, it is a powerful picture.
Because I was having technical difficulties with my computer (it would not let me post comments), I copied and pasted each comment that I attempted to write in this blog instead of providing you with the links. I will try to post the comments again at a later date, but I wanted to get the assignment done on time.

Self-Assessment
Blogging about human trafficking has been a very informative process. In doing research, I found out that human trafficking is a very serious problem. Many people do not know it, but the United States is a very high trafficking destination. That type of valuable information and more can be found on my blog, and in posting such information I am able to get the word out to people and make them more aware.
I believe I am contributing to finding a solution to this problem because I am getting the word out. Because my blog is online and easily accessible, many people can read it and find out information. My
analysis and critique of the information I find provides insight into the growing problem of human trafficking. Not many people are aware of what actually goes on in the human trafficking business, and I think I am putting the information out there in a great way through new media.
Through new media and my blog I am openly addressing the problem of human trafficking, but my blog could always be better. I believe I can improve upon my blog by making it worldlier. I can incorporate other cultures and show how they are affected by human trafficking. Overall, I enjoy
blogging. I am interested in the subject matter and enjoy doing research and reporting my findings through blogging. My one weakness is that sometimes I do not critique the information I find. It is easier for me to just report my findings, and I find myself doing that very often. My major strength is that I cover different aspects of human trafficking, and as the time goes on, I hope to continue with my blog and inform more people about human trafficking.
